Annual Corpus Christi Procession: The Annual Corpus Christi Procession takes place in Mogeely at 2.00pm this Sunday, 29th May.

Walking Group: Walking group will meet in Dungoiurney on Monday nights in the Church Carpark at 9.00pm. Everybody is welcome.

Novena: The Annual Novena in Honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus continues each evening until Friday, 3rd June. Mass will be offered on the final night of Novena.

Please remember in our prayers John Magner, student priest for the Dioceses of Cloyne, who will be ordained Deacon by Bishop William Crean in Maynooth this Sunday. It is expected he will be ordained next year.

Anniversaries: Lena Kelleher and Tom Mellerick. May they rest in peace.

Edel Quinn: The 100th Anniversary of Edel Quinn’s First Holy Communion will be held in Cahir Church, Co. Tipperary at 7.30pm next Wednesday 1st June. All are welcome.

Intermediate Hurling Championship: On Saturday evening at Pairc Ui Rionn Dungourney got their campaign off to a winning start when we defeated Barryroe on a score line of 2-22 to 0-10. We will meet Douglas in the next round, date and time to be confirmed.

Youth 2000 Summer Festival at Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th July 2016. This is a four day celebration of faith of young people aged 16 to 35. There is an action packed programme of inspiring talks, workshops, testimonies, prayer, music, drama and much more. The festival is donation only. Free buses available from all over Ireland. Knockadoon Catholic Boys Camp: Knockadoon Catholic Boys Camp will take place 5th to 11th June, 2016. Ages 12 to 16. A joint initiative of Cloyne Diocese and Waterford and Lismore Diocese. A one week (6 nights) stay on site, full board camp in the picturesque sea-side village of Knockadoon in East Cork for boy’s age 12 to 16. The camp will serve as a week of fun, friendship and rowing in faith, activities include various sports, canoeing, swimming, hill walking, music, catechesis and prayer. The camp is for boys who have completed primary school and have not yet reached 17 years of age. To book a place on the camp or to make an enquiry telephone Kieran O’Shaughnessy on 083-4620610 or Fr. Trocaire Boxes: If anyone still has their Trocaire box and with to hand it in would you do so next weekend as we need to send off the contributions of the Parish to the Diocesan office who will forward them to Trocaire.

Novena: The Annual Novena in Honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus commences on Thursday, 26th May and concludes on Friday, 3rd June (The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart). Rosary, Novena Prayer with Reflection and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament each evening in Mogeely Church, at 8.00 p.m. Mass will be offered on the final night of the Novena.

G A A: On Friday evening next the 21st May a new chapter in Dungourney’s glorious history will be entered when we play Barryroe in the opening round of the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship. We were one of the top clubs in the County at the turn of the last Century, being crowned County Senior Champions in 1902, 1907 and 1909. In 1902 we went on to win the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. By the middle of the 1900’s our fortunes had changed and we were now playing in the Junior grades, winning East Cork Junior B in ,67 and Junior A titles in 1972, 2006,2011 and 2015.Our success in 2015 was followed with County and Munster Titles.

Diocesan Collection: The Diocesan Collection for the Episcopal Conference will be taken up at all Masses next weekend.

Dungourney Prayer Group celebrates 25 years praying this year. To celebrate this, Bishop Crean will be the chief celebrant of Mass in Dungourney Church on next Thursday, 12th May at 7.30 p.m. There will be refreshments in Dungourney hall afterwards. Rosary at 7.00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to this celebration, so please come along.

The First Holy Communion Mass will be celebrated in Dungourney Church on next Saturday, 14th May at 11.00 a.m. We wish the children involved, their families and all those helping to prepare them, all the best for Saturday.

Silver Jubilee: Fr. Joe Rohan is celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Ordination to the Priesthood. Jubilee Mass on the 20th May in Ballycotton Church followed by refreshments in the local hall. All are welcome to attend.

Pro Life Campaign Public Meeting in Cork: The Pro Life Campaign will be holding a public information meeting on Thursday, 12th May in Clayton Hotel, Silver springs, Cork at 7.30 p.m. The theme of the meeting is “The 8th Amendment – Ireland’s right to Life Amendment” and the aim is to update the public on the current situation as regards the Amendment and to encourage people to become more informed.
