East Cork Rapid Response information meeting tonight Clonmult Old School @ 8-30.There will be a demonstration on the use of a Defibrillator . Proceeds of GAA ‘PUC FADA’ will be presented to Fr. Mike Barry and Rapid Response tonight. This will be followed by a cup of tea and a chat. All are welcome.

Masses during the week:  Monday to Wednesday at 9:30am

The annual Chrism mass takes place at St. Colman’s Cathedral in Cobh on next Wednesday night 1st April at 7:30pm. All welcome. A bus is leaving Castlemartyr N.S at 6:45pm. Contact Linda or Fr. Jack for seats a.s.a.p.

There will be a Penitential service in Dungourney Church on this Sunday at 8pm. There will be several priests available for confessions.

Confessions:  Tuesday between 6:30 and 7pm (Clonmult)

Thursday between 12 noon and 12:30pm (Clonmult) after the Stations of the Cross on Friday.

Note:

  1. The vigil mass on Saturday nights begins with the blessing of the Paschal Fire and the lighting of candles. It’s hoped that this takes place outside the main door of the church. (Weather permitting)
  2. Easter offerings will be taken up at all masses next weekend.
  3. The annual collection for the Holy places in Jerusalem will be taken up on Friday at the Stations of the Cross and at the celebration of the Lord’s passion.
  4. The ministers of the Eucharist will be commissioned for another year at the mass on Thursday night. All those involved are asked to attend.

Muintir Mhuire charity in East Cork offer a Christian community experience at their house in Medjugorje. One aspect of these trips gives the opportunity for people to see some of the results of the St Lukes Medical Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. May 13th -20th flights from Dublin /Cork €499 May 20th- 27th flights from Shannon €599. 27th May-3rd June Flights from Cork €629 Flights include transfers, accommodation, full board and insurance. Friends of Muintir Mhuire will also hold a Gala concert at Midleton Park Hotel April 10th 8pm. All proceeds towards Muintir Mhure building fund. 085 1145045

Dungourney GAA membership is due before March 31st. Players will not be covered by player injury scheme after this date. Only members paid by this date will be included in match tickets draws.

East Cork Rapid Response is a voluntary group which provides a Pre Hospital Emergency Service for the East Cork community. Founded in 1975 by the late Dr. Jim Doran. To-day his son Dr. Hugh Doran continues this work. They will hold an information meeting at Clonmult Old School on Tuesday 30th March at 8-30pm. There will be a demonstration on the use of a Defibrillator . Proceeds of  Long Puck will be presented to Fr. Mike Barry and Rapid Response by Dungourney GAA. All are welcome.

There will be Adoration in Dungourney church on Thursday between 8 and 9pm.

Next Sunday is Palm Sunday: the beginning of Holy Week. There will be the blessing and distribution of Palms at the beginning of both masses. While palms will be supplied you are also welcome to bring your own. It is hoped to begin the 11am mass on Sunday outside Clonmult Church and after the blessing etc to then process into the church. (weather permitting)

There will be a Penitential Service in Dungourney Church on next Sunday 29th March at 8pm. There will be several priests present so it’s a good opportunity for the sacrament of penance.

The First Holy Communion children will make their First Confession on this Monday 23rd at 7:30pm in Dungourney church. We congratulate them on this important moment in their lives and wish them and their families every good wish and blessing.

Masses during the week:  Tuesday is the Feast of St. Patrick, a holy day of obligation. Mass on Monday at 8pm (Dungourney) and on Tuesday at 11am (Clonmult) masses on Wednesday to Friday at 9:30am.

Note from Bishop Crean: On doctors’ advice I have recently been requested to undertake some medical tests. These tests have indicated the need to draw some fluid from the left side of my head. This procedure has been completed and thank God it went smoothly and well. Recovery will take some time during which some restrictions will be placed on my ministry/ work. For those parishes immediately impacted by this situation, the Diocesan office will be in touch soon. Please keep me in your prayers, wishing you a Happy St. Patricks Day. The Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelisation in Rome is asking Dioceses to take part in a special Promotion of the Sacrament of Reconciliation to be called ‘24hours With the Lord’. This involves some Churches being open 24 hours for the Sacrament of Reconciliation from 5pm on Friday March 13th to 5pm on Saturday 14th March (next weekend) The designated Church for this the Midleton Deanery is St. Colman’s Cathedral Cobh. Adoration will also take place during this time, so any adorers are invited to call into the  Cathedral

This Sunday is International Women’s Day,  so we remember the countless women who across the Developing world, who work tirelessly to improve their communities, often at personal risk. May God bless their work.

Evening Prayer for the Solemnity of the Annunciation:  An evening of prayer led by his Excellency the Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown will be held at the Church of the Resurrection in Mallow on Wednesday evening, March 25th at 8pm until 9:30pm with refreshments and a chat afterwards. Dugourney National School Parents Association are organising a fundraising curry night in the school hall on Friday 20th March at 8.00 pm. There will be curry and entertainment provided. A bus service will be available from 12.00pm onwards for the dungourney area at a charge of €5 per person. Bring your own beverages. Tickets are €15 each and all members of our community are very welcome.
