Sacred Heart Novena: The annual novena in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will commence in Mogeely Church on Thursday, 31st May to Friday, 8th June (the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart). Rosary, novena prayer with reflection and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament each evening at 8.00 p.m. Holy Mass will be celebrated on the final night of the novena. All are welcome.

CLONMULT WIN PUBLIC-SPEAKING COMPETITION.

Three attractive young ladies from Clonmult last night emerged winners of the Cork County Final of the Muintir na Tire Public Speaking Competition, held in the C. C. Y. M. S., Cork.
They now go on to the Munster semi-final which will be held in Clonmult on June 7th.
A total of 25 teams took part in the competition, and three qualified for last night’s final. A team from Coachford was placed second, and Skibbereen third.
The members of the winning team were: Misses Kathleen Hennessy, Mary McCarthy and Anne Kelleher.
The judges were: Mr. L. O’Brien, County Chairman, Macra na Tuaithe; Mr. Declan Martin, County Chairman, Macra na Feirme and Mr. D. McSweeney.

Eucharistic Holy Hour: Dungourney Prayer Group will hold a Eucharistic Holy Hour of prayer and praise on next Tuesday, 8th May at 8.00 pm in Dungourney National School to pray for the retention of the 8th Amendment.
