Village Is Angry Over School Plan.

Feelings are running high in the village of Clonmult, Co. Cork, where there is a treat to close the local two teacher school, which is attended by some 40 pupils, and amalgamate it with the 80 pupil school of Dungourney a few miles away.

Last night, parishioners attended a meeting in the local hall, where a committee was formed to protest against the decision of the Department to amalgamate the school.

After a long discussion, in the course of which it was felt the interests of the community would be best served by retaining their school, it was unanimously decided to vigorously oppose its closing.

The committee elected were: Chairman, Mr. D. Kenneally: vice chairman, Mr. W. O’Sullivan: hon sec, Mrs. T. O’Sullivan. Committee, Mrs. M. Hennessy, Mrs. T. Harnedy. Messrs. J. Mulcahy, M. Motherway, J. Rohan, J. Wrynn, J. Connery and P. Hennessy.
