Dungourney News.

Dungourney GAA organised a public meeting in the Hall on Feb 23rd with a view to purchasing a playing field. Michael Ahern Chairman of the Hurling club presided and a very large crowd attended. The chairman in his opening address said a club with the tradition of Dungourney deserves a permanent playing field and it would be a fitting tribute to Jamesey Kelleher and his famous hurlers if by the New Year the 75th anniversary of their All-Ireland victory that we had our own playing field. The following were elected on the grounds committee to negotiate the purchase of a field, Pat Rigney, Anthony Kelleher, Jack Griffin, Michael O’Mahony, Dan Kenneally, Niallie Casey and Raymond O’Riordan.
