ALL IRELAND INTERMEDIATE HURLING FINAL
Cork 2-19 Kilkenny 0-18.
Cork claimed their ninth All-Ireland success in this competition on Saturday at Nolan Park, where they defeated Kilkenny who were going for “3 in a row”. What a day for the Dungourney Club with both Shane Hegarty and Niall Motherway on the starting 15. Niall lined out at cornerback carrying the “no 2”, with Shane at centerfield. Niall picked up an injury twenty minutes into first half and had to be replaced, Shane completed the Hour. Both have given fantastic service to Kiltha Og at underage and then to Dungourney as adult players. Since winning a County Football Championship at U/12 with Kiltha these two players have made the “Winners Enclosure” in some form every year since. A remarkable achievement in itself, and credit to all around them. They are indeed a credit to their parents, clubs and coaches. Shane and Niall we wish you many more years of success on the playing fields.
