DSC01113 Our quest for “JAMESEY” began on the 27th June at Clonmult Memorial Park in Midleton. There we met Cobh in the opening round of the competition. This was a game we had to come from behind in, all the early pre-season physical work stood the players well. Our next outing was with St.Catherine’s at the top pitch in Youghal on Saturday 12th July. Under monsoon conditions and fading light this match was abandoned after forty minutes with the sides level on the scoreboard. At the second time of asking we booked our place in the semi-final. On Sunday 16th August we played Midleton in Ballynoe. St. Ita’s who defeated Carrignavar earlier in the day were already in the Final. A good start saw us in control for most of the game, we had enough on the score board at the end to “steady the ship”.

So now “JAMESEY” Saturday 12th September at 6.00pm in Cloyne (the home of your teammate from the Team of the Century) it’s make your mind up time.

Do you go south to Pilmore, the wind cutting in off the Sea, the smell of salt water in the air and waves smashing the sea coast.

Do you go north to the “Little Village” where you sported and played, from where you led the great men of yesteryear to All Ireland glory, you rode “HOME CHAT” with the SASH on your back, you followed the music of the Clonmult Fox Hounds through Clonmult’s lovely glens.

Will the long winter nights be spent in the shelter of the TOBAREEN with your friend from Ballynona North, Dr. Edwin Fitzgibbon reminiscing of your days spent in Clonmult School and of players from both clubs who have worn the “SKULL and CROSS BONES”
