Dungourney Family Open Day – Sunday 24th August
On Sunday, 24th August, Midleton Distillery hosted an event to extend a warm “Thank You” to all members of the local communities for the tremendous welcome and support that they have offered in the development of the IDL Maturation Site at Ballynona North, Dungourney.
The maturation site was opened up from 2:00-6:00pm with food, music and fun for the entire family –all taking place inside a newly completed warehouse and safely out of the rain.
Over 1,100 people enjoyed live music, bouncy castles, set dancing, face painting and a great variety of food to tempt even the fussiest eaters in the family. The event began with a blessing of the site by Fr. Barry O’Flynn, followed with a cooperage display by Master Cooper Ger Buckley. The DJ then stepped in to make sure there was plenty of energy in the atmosphere until it was time for the trad band and set dancers to take to the stage.
It was a great afternoon, with over 1400 ice cream cones eaten and nearly 800 cups of tea, coffee and hot chocolate consumed to keep away the chill!
